Burns’ Family Fresh Grocer Supermarkets Raise 5K for Red Cross
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Fresh Grocer Supermarkets owned and operated by the Burns Family raised $5,000 for the American Red Cross during their fourth annual fundraiser in March, Red Cross Month.  Customers had the chance to donate $1, $3 or $5 at checkout and, combined with corporate donations, collectively contributed a total of $5,000 for the humanitarian organization.  All of the proceeds will help the Red Cross deliver on its mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.
"We are so appreciative of the continued generosity of the Burns’ Family Fresh Grocers, their customers and their hard-working associates,” said Judge Renée Cardwell Hughes (Ret.), chief executive officer of the American Red Cross, Eastern Pennsylvania.  “The Fresh Grocer campaign for Red Cross Month has been a great success. Every dollar donated will help support those in need.”
Throughout the fundraiser, the Burns’ Family Fresh Grocer Supermarkets in Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE invited customers to “be an everyday hero” by supporting the Red Cross with a small monetary contribution.  Signs were posted throughout the supermarkets; employees proudly wore campaign buttons, weekly circulars promoted the fundraiser, and social media sites buzzed about progress made by our customers and associates throughout the month.
“The overwhelming generosity of our customers combined with the dedication of our hard-working associates continues to make our Red Cross Month fundraiser a great success year after year,” said Patrick J. Burns, president and CEO of Burns’ Family Neighborhood Markets.
In total, The Fresh Grocer Supermarkets has donated$38,500 to the Red Cross since launching the store campaign four years ago. .
